Recently, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was awarded a five star-safety rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) -- their highest honor. The all-new minivan adds this award to the Top Safety Pick+ designation it previously received from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

In each of the NHTSA crash test, including frontal collision, side-impact simulating a single vehicle collision with a pole and side-impact simulating two-vehicle collision, the Pacifica earned the highest possible rating. The minivan earned a rating of a superior for its frontal crash mitigation system, and the necessary good ratings in all five crash tests, including roof strength, head restraint, side, moderate overlap front and small overlap front evaluations.

Chrysler implemented more than 8,500 simulated crashes and 80 full-impact crashes, leading to the development of a body structure that uses more than a dozen different steel grades of steel. More than one-third of the body structure is advanced high-strength steel, and high-strength steel accounts for nearly three-quarters.
